   You are invited: Our next International professional program in Lithuania will be held July 7, 2009, when Vilnius will be busy with many social and cultural events to commemorate the 1,000 year anniversary of its first recorded mention.  We will join with Lithuanian attorneys, judges, and other legal professionals in the halls of the Lithuanian Parliament to celebrate the rule of law in Lithuania since its first Statute in 1529.

  Program: The program will provide an overview of the rule of law in Lithuania from its beginnings, the progress of law in society, the role of the various legal professions, and projections for the law in the future. Speakers will include prominent lawyers, judges and legal academics.   Language: Simultaneous translation in English will be provided.

  Registration Registration for US Participants will be $100 for LABAS members, $150 for non-LABAS members, $50 for Students. The online payment option is no longer available, but if you still wish to join us, please submit the attached program registration by email to pas@patstreeter.com and make arrangements to bring your payment with you. We are also tentatively planning a get-together the day before, so please check back for more details.

  Location: This event will be held in the Parliament building (Seimas).

Relationships With
Law Schools in Lithuania

   LABAS actively supports activities with law schools in Lithuania, most recently with the Vytautas Magnus University School of Law (VMU) in Kaunas and the Mykolas Romeris School of Law (MRU) in Vilnius.

   The VMU School of Law has a web site in English at teise.vdu.lt and publishes an on-line law review jointly with the Florida Coastal School of Law in cooperation with LABAS, called the International Journal of Baltic Law

   The MRU School of Law hosted the business law conference in June 2003 co-sponsored by LABAS. MRU has a web site in English at www.mruni.lt.
